Oracle Calendar is being decommissioned. Exchange and Outlook have been implemented over the past few years as a robust calendar and email client.Please note that the original date set for this, November 1, 2009, has been extended to December 1st to accommodate people''s needs for other solutions.
Due to the high costs of supporting and maintaining the Oracle
calendar system (given the limited number of users) in comparison to
the robust and comprehensive features offered by Microsoft Exchange
and Outlook system that CUMC has invested in as the enterprise
solution for email and calendaring, CUMC IT will be decommissioning
Oracle calendar.
CUMC IT has been contacting individuals and groups that have been using
Oracle Calendar to assist with making sure that appointments and other account information is transferred over as needed. For email and scheduling purposes, now is the right time to
request for and migrate to a CUMC Exchange account:
- If you request for a CUMC Exchange account, your Oracle calendar
data will be completely migrated to your Exchange account. You will
not lose the saved appointments or meetings created in your Oracle
calendar account.
- To request a CUMC Exchange account please use the online submission form
accessible from the “How to get an Exchange Account?” link in the left
navigation pane on the CUMC IT Outlook Help Gateway. Once you receive a CUMC Exchange account, you may start actively using
your CUMC Exchange account for email and calendar.

Note to Morningside Exchange Users:
Since the Morningside campus manages a separate Exchange server, it will not be possible to access the calendars or otherwise manage accounts for CUMC Exchange members when using a Morningside Exchange account. If you require this kind of access, please request a CUMC Exchange
account.
- If you currently use Oracle Calendar and do not want a CUMC Exchange account or would like to use a different
calendar application, you will be completely responsible for migrating the data to your
calendar application.

The Exchange and
Outlook system is the latest, most comprehensive, and totally
integrated enterprise wide solution offered by Microsoft. It provides a very easy and intuitive user interface and total
integration between email and calendar. From Outlook you can also
access a host of features such as tasks, appointments, meetings,
attachments, integration with Microsoft Office, and the CUMC global
address book.
